All this from someone who once told me "I don't come with source code!"
I know that CVS has fallen out of style... In my defense 1) I have never used CVS or any other version control system 2) I don't plan on ever using one
3) I learned about CVS while John & I were dating and attended the wedding reception of Branden Robinson. I could tell that people were not talking about the drug store chain called CVS, but couldn't figure out what CVS could be. On the way home John explained. It was the first programming concept I learned and my first event with mostly geeks in attendance. I survived both!
You haven't convinced my that you are a geek yet. A little of the lingo yes, but I'm just not.
We use the MANABLOC distribution manifolds here in some of the new homes in our subdivision. My main concern is that this plastic hasn't been around long enough for long term testing to be complete. Is there an estimate on it's life expectancy? .. I looked at your deconf site but it didn't tell me much of anything except the convention. So I don't know what that is. John used the term, 'BoF.' That is new to me also? Is there a primer someplace? ..
Yeah, I'm not convinced either! I maintain that I know what I know because I want to know what my husband is doing & interested in, not because of any geekdom on my part.
Don't know about the plastic life expectancy. I guess we'll find out! You're right that the DebConf site is not very informative - it's intended for people who already know about it before getting to the site. DebConf is an annual conference for Debian developers (programmers). John's been a Debian developer for a long time now. Debian is an operating system, just like Windows is an operating system. But, Debian is much better. If you want a more detailed thing about Debian, this page might help: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Debian BoF means "Birds of a Feather". At these geek conferences there are gatherings of people with similar interests, often arranged at the last minute, and they're referred to as BoFs. Actually, a "wives of geeks" BoF could be interesting...
That is funny, I always thought debconf was the Debian package configuration framework...
