On this site I will be writing about topics and issues that relate to my life.

I am a relative newcomer to living in the country. My husband, John, and I live on 10 acres, half of which is wooded. We have lived here for 2 years and I still am surprised that there are actually trees in Kansas! (Hence the name of this site.)

I am the wife of a geek. I've become very skilled in comparing myself to a computer. For example, it is good to occasionally remind John that wives do not come with source code.

I am the owner of a cat. Prior to our move to the country I had no pets. I am learning a lot about cats and their strange ways.

I am Mennonite. Yes, we've been using computers as long as the rest of the world has!

I am a social worker. I coordinate in-home services for elderly and disabled people who need such services. Working with older adults is a wonderful and challenging thing.

I am a graduate of Purdue University and enjoy watching the men's basketball team. I grew up watching the Cubs, so this basketball season hasn't been too painful yet.
