A Virtual Baby Shower
The baby is due in seven weeks. The pregnancy has been pretty normal, aside from the blood clot scare and last week when the sonogram lady bruised my bladder. Nevertheless, I'll be just fine if the baby decided to come a little early!
To set the record straight: No, it's not twins. No, we don't know the gender. No, we don't have names picked out. Yes, we realize that we'll need names soon. Yes, all 6 of the first-time grandparents are excited. We're registered here and here.
I recently had to create a list of people that I wanted to invite to a baby shower. While writing the list, I realized that there are a lot of bloggers that I would love to invite, if only they lived close enough! To that end, I'm hosting my own virtual shower.
Here's what you do:
Leave a comment with a virtual gift. Your gift can be advice, a link to something that I should be registered for, a reflective thought, something you've learned from your own baby experiences, or whatever other creative thing that you can think of. Just please, don't send me that scary book!

I am so glad to hear all is well and that you gave us where you were registered.
The virtual shower will be fun. I'll get 'in' this. But I'll need some time to think. First off, be sure and lay in a supply of shrink wrap for when he/she becomes a toddler. (be sure and leave a place to breathe near the nose or mouth)

That sounds like mid-October, right? It is nice that you are doing fine and on schedule.

Our Karen was called Festus until she was born. We hardly ever call her that now.

Cliff, at first I thought you meant to shrink wrap the house. Maybe we should do both the house and the child?
Jim, it was Oct 9, but today the OB changed it to Oct 2 - so magically I went from 33 to 34 weeks. That's a gift every pregnant woman wants! I imagine that Karen didn't enjoy being called Festus?
I'm looking forward to what other gifts will be given at this virtual shower!

I don't know you that much, and I've never been to a baby shower before, so how 'bout I gift you with the best advice I ever heard.

let go of whatever your expectations are, for they will certainly be shattered by the real thing.

Gift from a stranger: help the baby establish a good sleep routine and the everything is lots more fun. I highly recommend the following book:

My baby advice is for when he/she gets old enough to eat ice cream. I gave it to every one of my kids, even before the GCs could have ice cream.
"I DON'T EVER WANT TO CATCH YOU DRAGGING THIS KID AROUND THE MALL OR WHEREVER CRYING. JUST STOP AND GIVE IT SOME ICE CREAM."
Karen didn't seem to mind being called Festus before she was born. Maybe she didn't know till she was born, and we had stopped just then.
Neither her or the GCs were too spoiled, just right.
