Jacob

Jacob hates to get his hair cut, especially the hair close to his ears. I think the sound unsettles him.

Jacob has been present for almost every hair cut I've had since his birth. I keep wondering when he'll make the connection that hair cuts don't hurt, mom gets hair cuts, hair cuts must be okay. Finally today I decided to help him out a little. As soon as we got home from my hair cut, I started in on cutting his hair. "Remember how Mom just got her hair cut? Now it's Jacob's turn!"

Something must have clicked because he started saying "cut" with each clip of the scissors, instead of screaming. He got rather squirmy at the end, but this was by far the easiest hair cut I've given him. Now if only it looked like someone other than a mom cut it...

At Jacob's daycare they have school pictures taken in spring and fall. The spring session also includes a class picture. I was disappointed in Jacob's pictures. I was there while they were taken and he was in a great mood. You wouldn't know that by the picture, though. I bought a couple anyway since they were his first school pictures. It makes him sound so old!

The classroom teacher told me that the class picture is always funny with the kids staring blankly at the camera. When we got the picture back, I did have to laugh. This is as good as it gets when you're trying to get a group of 1-year-olds to pose for a picture!
