Day 1: Attend Farmers' Market and purchase 3 cups of sour cherries. Put them in the refrigerator and forget about them.
Day 2: Page through 5 cookbooks and decide that you don't like any of their cherry pie recipes. Decide to use a rhubarb pie recipe and substitute cherries. Realize that you spent so much time being irritated at the lack of decent-sounding cherry pie recipes that you no longer have time to make a pie today.
Day 3: Read
Jerry's post about how you need to cook or freeze sour cherries promptly or else they'll turn brown. Panic a bit because you have no idea how long it's been since these cherries were picked. Find an old safety pin on the dryer that you can use to pit the cherries. Pit the cherries and feel proud of yourself in a Susie Homemaker kind of way. Consider postponing making the pie because pitting cherries was annoying. Suck it up and actually make the pie. Don't eat the pie tonight because it won't be cool enough to cut before bed.
Day 4: Eat pie for breakfast.
Day 5 (okay, a month later): Post pictures on your blog to document that the pie was actually made.
