Country Learning

Monday evening I heard a strange hum coming from the laundry room. I considered ignoring it, but since I recently learned what ignoring suddenly disappearing logs on my blog could mean, I decided I had better investigate. Since the sound was coming from the washing machine, it seemed that this investigative job was not for me.

Initially John got the machine running, but it quickly stopped again. Would this be my opportunity to get a new washing machine? Sadly, no. It was determined that this was a problem with the well.

I have to admit that I was initially disappointed that the washer was not broken. Then I was worried that rats had managed to infest the well. Finally I realized that this could be a problem in trying to sell our house. And I was really grateful that I was not required to trek out to the well house.

I stood on alert near the water faucet, watching for any sign of water. Yea, the water came! John called to tell me that the problem was caused by ants. If you want more well details go here.

Anyway, as I type John is back at the well for the third time. Apparently ants are as stupid as opossums. Just one more thing to learn when living in the country!
